The Federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has awarded Unison Behavioral Health a Community Mental Health Center (CMHC) grant of $3 million. Unison Behavioral Health (UBH) is the public safety net provider of mental health and substance use disorder services for the South Georgia counties of Atkinson, Bacon, Brantley, Charlton, Clinch, Coffee, Pierce, and Ware. With this CMHC grant, UBH will restore and sustain access to behavioral health services which have been restricted during the COVID-19 pandemic for children and adults residing in these rural counties with serious mental illness, serious emotional disturbance and co-occurring disorders.

Dr. Kavita Kothari, Assistant Medical Director of Unison Behavioral Health, was recently awarded the prestigious William “Bill” Richards Rural Psychiatry Award for 2021 by the American Psychiatric Association.

This award recognizes individuals who have made exemplary contributions to the treatment of patients and the practice of psychiatry in rural and/or remote geographic areas.

Senior Management of Unison congratulates Dr. Kothari on this outstanding accomplishment.
