Janet Carter Retires from Unison BH

Unison Behavioral Health is pleased to recognize Janett Carter for her many years of dedicated service as Unison’s Clinical Director. Janett officially retired on February 28th and is looking forward to spending some well-deserved quality time with her family. She started her career in February 1990 as secretary typist with Glynn County Department of Family and Children’s Services (DFCS). She transferred to the newly formed Satilla Community Services in November 1994 as a Health Service Technician in a Therapeutic Group Home for girls. (Satilla Community Services was to be renamed Unison BH in 2012). Working steadily on her education and qualifications, she gained in turn her masters in social work to become fully licensed as a social worker, as she was promoted to positions of greater responsibility. In August 2006, she was appointed as Clinical Director – a position which she has held with distinction till her retirement last month. Janett has always been held in high esteem by clients, colleagues, and community partners. She brought a distinctive practical judgment to her work along with compassion and extensive clinical experience. Under Janett’s direction, there were many significant developments in the mental health and substance abuse services offered by Unison. She oversaw the establishment of a crisis stabilization program in Waycross, the Accountability (drug and mental health) Court services in Waycross and Douglas, and an extensive program of mental services in the area schools.

She will be much missed by everyone here at Unison BH and remembered with appreciation and gratitude. Glyn Thomas, Ph.D., CEO of Unison BH
